Influenza Vaccination for 2020

11th Sept 2020

The information about the availability of the flu vaccine for 2020 remains unclear.
It seems the government want to prioritise the vaccines to the state doctors first (medico generico/medico di base).
Hopefully, the excess vaccines will then be sold privately (perhaps in October). These are the ones I will be able to order for my patients.

If you would like to “pre-order” / reserve a vaccine then please send an email to Dr Kerr stating the number of vaccines required and you will be put on the list.
This doesn’t guarantee the vaccine will be available for you but increases the chances. The sooner you ‘sign-up’ the better.

Costs:
The tetravalent vaccine last year was about €25.
Office admin / consult + injection: €45

2nd October 2020

The pharmacist is hoping for mid-October but still no certainty for a date and numbers of vaccines available.

13th October  2020

So, mid October is here. The pharmacist called his supplier today and they still have no idea if and when the vaccines will be available privately.
The government doctors (medico generico/medico di base) do have the vaccine and they are starting to vaccinate high risk groups.
